Homework Assignments and Book Projects
7th, 8th Grade 2017
Homework :
Read at least 30 min. 4 x's per week
Log reading and writing time and pages read on reading log and get parent signature when possible.
Turn in reading log on Tuesdays and write summary of what was read for 30 minutes in class on Tuesday.
Students who have not completed their reading can make up the summary at any time for full credit once the 2 hrs. of reading is completed.
STUDENTS MUST READ 3 BOOKS PER QUARTER AND WILL TAKE READING COUNTS QUIZZES IN CLASS. (size of book is flexible and students may listen to audio- books.)

Below you will find homework turn in dates and information on the book projects for the 2017-2018 school year. We are sending it home far in advance to aid students in planning. Students might benefit from putting these dates on a calendar or on their phones to avoid “I forgot.” Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions or need further information or to request adaptations for your student.

BOOK PROJECT DIRECTIONS
50 alternative projects link must be approved by the teacher if the student want to choose anything from this list:

I. All students must create a visual, choices below:
- Create a diorama in a box of their favorite scene in Their book.
- Create a poster of their favorite scene in Their book.
- Make a model of something or someone from the book.
- Create a google slides presentations with at least 5 slides showing the main characters, setting, main conflict, Climax of the Book, and possible themes.
- Create a collage that covers 80% of the background with pictures that represent the main characters, setting, main conflict, Climax of the Book, and possible themes.
- Make a book Cube one side showing title, author and your name, One side illustrated with a setting, one side illustrated with the main characters, one side illustrated with the conflict, one side illustrated with the climax, One side Illustrated with the resolution.
Writing should be typed double spaced 12pnt. Font. Writing should be completed on google docs so teacher can help student edit work as needed. If you do not have a computer at home with internet services, our computers will be available for book project use at the following dates and times. (Students who do not use the computer and submit a rough draft on paper on will have to recopy a final draft with corrections etc. and I will not be able to get their papers back to them as quickly.
Every morning M-F 7:30- 8:17 After school by appointment.

a. Write paragraph introducing book title and author and describing setting(s): 8-10 sentences
b. Write paragraph describing the main characters and their role in the story: 8-10 sentences
c. Write paragraph describing the major conflict or problem in the story: 8-10 sentences.
d. Write paragraph describing the resolution or solution to the problem: 8-10 sentences
e. Write conclusion paragraph including the theme/lesson to be learned and explain why this was or was not a good book to read: 8-10 sentences.
III. All students are required to give a 2 min. book talk.
Explain their visual and giving a brief overview of characters, setting, conflict and resolution and recommendation (was it a good book, why/why not) Parents are invited to come!!
